Hainan Institute of Translation Studies Successfully Holds the Leadership Change Session

On the afternoon of May 13, 2023, the leadership change session for Hainan Institute of Translation Studies was successfully held at the Hainan Foreign Language Lecture Hall. The session was conducted both online and offline, with over 60 participating members discussing the latest trends and directions in the field of translation, as well as electing new members for the council.

The session was attended by Mr. Cheng Ziheng from the Hainan Federation of Social Sciences Association (HFSSA), Professor Zhang Naihui, President of Hainan Institute of Translation Studies, Professor Liu Humin at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and Mr. Yun Yong, Chairman of Hainan Yunlian Blockchain Application Research Institute. Mr. He Enpei, Co-founder of Transn, and Mr. Chen Shengquan, former Director of Translation Center at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. participated in the session online.

Former President Prof. Zhang Naihui reviewed and summarized the work of the institute, expressing the hope that the members would carry on the torch, forge ahead, and continue to make greater contributions to the translation cause in Hainan. Prof. Liu Humin, the newly appointed President of Hainan Institute of Translation Studies, stated that the institute would advance in the new era, continue to lead colleagues in the translation field, stand at a high level of serving the overall strategy of Hainan's economic and social opening-up, and serve the country, the society, and the industry. The institute will strive to strengthen its organizational capacity, guidance, cooperation, and other aspects, closely unite translation forces at home and abroad, promote the vigorous development of the translation industry in the new era, and make efforts and contributions to the translation work and industry development in Hainan Province in the process of accelerating the construction and development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

"Translation is an important part of exchanges between civilizations. The world can better understand China in the new era through accurate and vivid translation and presentation, which is quite meaningful for promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations," General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote in a reply letter to foreign experts at the Foreign Languages Press on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its establishment. Understanding its own mission deeply, Hainan Institute of Translation Studies will strictly require itself to provide "accurate and vivid" translation services, consciously serve the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, focus on the long-term goals, combine with practical needs, vigorously promote the training of translation talents, promote the rapid and healthy development of the translation industry, drive and serve the development of an international high-standard free trade zone network, and achieve the vision of connecting the world.
