Everything Will Be Fine-New Year’s Statement of HNFL

In 2022, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held successfully. It not only put forward the goals and tasks as well as the fundamental policies of the development of the Party and the country for the next five years and beyond, but also laid out a grand blueprint of building a modern socialist country in all respects. We could see the strong comprehensive national power of the country, and the resilience and courage of the people in the pandemic era.

Keeping pace with the development of China, Hainan Foreign Languages (HNFL) has achieved fruitful results in the past year, which should be owed to all the staff working hand in hand and upholding the CPC leadership. We can achieve delightful accomplishments because we stick to the national strategies, and focus on both the company development and the fight against the pandemic. Taking advantage of Hainan Free Trade Port policy and adhering to spirits of "Action Plan for the Comprehensive Enhancement of Foreign Languages Proficiency of Citizens in Hainan Province" and "Action Plan for the Comprehensive Enhancement of Foreign Languages Proficiency of Civil Servants in Hainan Province 2020-2025", HNFL has strived to build itself as a benchmark of the Free Trade Port English in related industries by conducting English trainings for different public organs. In the policing English trainings for the public security organs of Hainan, HNFL persists in cultivating international versatile policing talents for Hainan Free Trade Port. The supporting textbook is Practical Police English and it will be published soon in the near future. Besides, the company has also carried out the industrial English trainings for the staff in the Forestry Department of Hainan Province and the English skills enhancement training for the teachers in the Education and Training Institute of Wenchang City. Even in the pandemic era, HNFL has overcome the difficulties and deeply assisted in improving foreign language skills and cross-cultural communication skills for staffs in Hainan provincial parties and government bodies, enterprises and public institutes, and public service units. HNFL is building own language learning platform to provide service for different industries in the Free Trade Port. Meanwhile, it encourages the research and application of the industry foreign languages proficiency test with the basis of China Standards of English (CSE); actively promotes the Hainan Free Trade Port to become the frontier and be the first one to introduce the famous international standards of foreign languages; drives the improvement of foreign languages service level and test standard construction, and the development of industrial concentration in Hainan.

On the basis of achievements in 2021, HNFL has taken a step forward in translation business in 2022 and keeps going on. It has cultivated a group of high quality multilingual interpreters and translators, with main focuses on the fields of aerospace, satellites and drones, government and foreign affairs, news and information, policy and business, medical policy and care, foreign police affairs, etc. In addition, it has also built a workstation to provide high quality service for the majority of translators and interpreters. What’s more, HNFL has gone deep into the business which benefits the people, promoted the cooperation between governments and enterprises, held the featured English salon activities to provide learning service, and created the atmosphere of industrial English learning.

We had so many mixed emotions in 2022. We had sleep interrupted at nighttime by the sound of ambulances. The countries were at war and we were worried about them. The setup of the world becomes more complex. Many people in the world are still suffering from disease and war, poverty and loneliness. There is no doubt that we will have more difficulties in the future, but we need to have faith. HNFL sincerely wishes all of you a peaceful, gritty and bright future in 2023.
