A Foreign Language Training Course for Police Station Officers in Hainan Province was Successfully Held

A series of ability-building events were held with the support of Hainan Provincial Public Security Department. The purpose of the events is to holistically carry out the spirit outlined from the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the significance of the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s direction, and to accelerate the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port which is envisaged to be a paradigm of China’s reforms and opening up in new era.Complying with the language training methodology and the examination principle, both set according to the closed customs operations requirement of the free trade port, the events have been conducted to improve language skills of the junior police whose work is associated with foreign affairs. From 31st Oct to 4^th Nov 2022, a five-day training course for police at police stations is held at Hainan Foreign Languages. To ensure a quality outcome of the training and abide by the epidemic prevention policies, a closs-off management is implemented during the training. With the application of the new training methodology and the examination principle, the training course has been completed in satisfaction and the profession of the training is embodied.  

In the first class of the course, Chen Heliang, the first-level director of the Education and Training Department of the Political Department of Hainan Public Security Bureau puts forward three requirements for the students:

1.Recognizing the importance of this training as it is held in the context of the heavy tasks of various tasks, and demonstrates the importance of foreign language learning to improve the ability of public security police to communicate with foreign countries, manage and provide services.

2.Under strict compliance with the requirements of pandemic prevention and control, it is also important to complete learning tasks with high quality.

3.Strictly abiding by the training discipline. Do not be late or leave early, and strictly abide by the six iron rules and prohibitions.

In this training class, HNFL invited Professor Xie Bangxiu from the Department of International Police Affairs of the Hubei University of Police to give a lecture. In terms of course design, the course is divided into two parts with theory learning arranged in the morning and practical course in the afternoon aimed to simulate the real world situations of policing affairs; As for examination, the examination system embedded HNFL’s application is used, as suggested by Professor Xie, to conduct a touchdown test before training and a learning effect assessment after training.

The training course was hosted by the Education and Training Department of the Political Department of the Hainan Public Security Department and hosted by HNFL. The HNFL team provided excellent educational services and teaching management for the whole course.
