The Second of Advanced Training Courses in Foreign Police Affairs for Hainan Provincial Public Security Organs Rounded off

The report to the 20th CPC National Congress pointed out that greater efforts should be made to develop Hainan into a free trade port. For the purposes of achieving that goal, implementing policies and measures formulated by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, promoting the development of stress tests for high-standard opening up, making sure that public security organs give full play to their roles as an service-provider and a manager in building the free trade port, the Second of Advanced Training Courses in Foreign Police Affairs for Hainan Provincial Public Security Organs was held successfully in Hainan Foreign Languages Training Center from October 17 to 21, 2022. 50 police officers coming from different cities and counties across the province took a 5-day intensive closed training.

Undertaking the training course, Hainan Foreign Languages invited Mrs. Wu Yuqin and Mrs. Li Wen to teach interpreting and translation respectively. Mrs. Wu is a lecturer of School of Foreign Language at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Mrs. Li is the director of Department of Translation Studies at Hainan Normal University. The two teachers constantly helped students gradually improve their translation capacity for foreign police affairs on the basis of previous training course.

Promoting the establishment of local window service assessment system for foreign police affairs, Hainan Foreign Languages arranged tests before and after the course. In addition to professional translation and interpreting lessons, various activities were carried out, including morning and evening study sections, English film appreciation, English corner, and an introduction to CATTI. A strong English learning atmosphere had been formed and the evening learning section had been enriched.

After the course, students said that capability for handling foreign police affairs played a vital role in developing Hainan into a free trade port. Everyone who took this course will definitely put what they have learned into practice. To make Hainan one of the safest places in China, the police force should take action to complete missions, to shoulder the responsibility, and to actively promote the building of the free trade port.
